Understanding The Lymphatic System
The Lymphatic System The Lymphatic System has a really complex structure including several hundred of lymph nodes, lymph vessels and capillaries spread throughout the body. The lymphatic system is closely associated with the blood circulation system. The lymph vessels return excess fluid collected from all over the body back into the blood circulation. This fluid is forced through the lymph nodes and filtered. Harmful organisms are trapped and destroyed by specialized white blood cells found in these nodes. Every day about two liters of lymph fluid flow into the blood circulation.
The three main functions of the lymphatic system
Fighting infection - The lymphatic system transports a watery, clear fluid full of lymphocytes. Lymphocytes are infection-fighting cells. The colorless fluid is known as lymph.
Draining excess fluid - As the blood circulates through the body’s tissues, it leaves behind waste products such as proteins and fluids. Excess fluid is drained through capillaries and into the lymphatic system where it is filtered and returned to the blood.
Lipid (fat) absorption - The lymphatic system also absorbs lipids from the intestine and transports them to the blood.

SURGICAL CARE LYMPHATIC MASSAGE THERAPY
Pre-Surgical Lymphatic Massage Therapy
One to three sessions are recommended 14-2 days before surgery. Lymphatic Massage is helpful in preparing the body for surgery by clearing any stagnant toxins and waste that may be at or around the surgical sites.
Benefits may included reduced edema and swelling, stimulation of the immune system, increased relation and prevention of infection.
Post-Surgical Lymphatic Massage Therapy
All surgery disrupts the natural flow of our lymphatic system. Begin receiving lymphatic massages as early as 10 days after surgery. Treatments are best spaced every other day from each other and a minimum of 5 sessions is recommended.
Beneficial after plastic surgery, liposuction, non-invasive laser and after breast reconstruction. It helps speed up recovery time, decrease swelling & bruising, prevent infection, alleviate pain, and minimize scarring and hardening.
Lymphatic Balancing Detox
Lymphatic balance relieves congestion and removes accumulated waste and edema in the tissues to decrease pain, restore full pain-free movement, and allow for optimal tissue healing.
